Re: Ed Daniels

If Tulane wins 7 to 10 games a year thru 2022 and sells 80 to 100% of Yulman during that time, they will be a top expansion candidate for the Big 12. The athletics would match the academics, we are a geographical fit in a recruiting target area for the Big 12. 2023 is when the next round of contract...

I don't know. I presumed expensive because we gave an extension on a $1.5m annual contract through 2023.

Re: Ed Daniels

Ed is right about a lack of unwavering commitment from the board & president's office to winning, period. His disdain for the statement "we have to find the right fit", offered so many times by Tulane over the years, resonates with all of us. He fails to acknowledge, however, that Tulane stepped up ...

Re: How Many Regular Season Games Will Tulane Win?

8-4, wins over WF, Nicholls, UAB, Cincy, SMU, Tulsa, Navy & ECU. Tanner is all goose eggs. LSU finishes 6-6, forced to play Tulane in the Birmingham Bowl, Greenies beat LSU 48-7 with a 4th quarter fake field goal to match the 1981 score. Joe Alleva is shot outside the stadium and hospitalized at UAB...

Re: Saw this coming when we left the Dome LSU in NOLA

The Dome is for rent, if we want to play a game there we just have to pay the same rent as LSU or ULL. Why would we do that. For other reasons (cancellation of baseball series) we should either collect our $750k or our home football game owed by LSU for cancelling the football series. Also should ca...

Re: Future OOC Games

With all due respect Sader, I have a dozen or more LSU friends in N.O. who to a man acknowledge LSU should play Tulane vs the worthless rent a games they have now, and would be happy to see some games in N.O. as part of that. There are lots of LSU fans in N.O. who never see them play because they do...

Does anyone believe for a minute that if Gayle Benson expressed a distaste for a particular play by play candidate to WWL that they would thumb their nose at her and give him the job anyway?

TulaneStudentSection beat me to it. I can't imagine Gayle Benson, a sitting TU Board member, would keep a clown like that on the list for the Saints radio broadcast if she knew about his love for splashing around in the pigpen.

It seems like we may have reached the last day he could actually enroll and participate in Tulane spring practice, and really had no interest in waiting until fall camp, pulling our offer at that point.

With all of this above, is there any indication (private or otherwise) that either coach Willie Fritz or AD Troy Dannen are less than enamored with being at Tulane and actively looking to move on at the first good opportunity.

Re: “Battle for the Rag” Once a great rivalry

Despite everything above, the fact is Tulane & LSU signed a 10 year home and home for 2006 thru 2015. Skip Bertman saw the wisdom of this, and Tulane bent over backwards on the revenue, giving LSU 40,000 tickets to sell & keep in the Dome while Tulane got $250k to play in BR. Bertman happily signed ...

Crowd at Grambling game was MUCH better than SEVERAL home games we've had. Student section was fairly packed throughout first half. We were obviously gonna blow them out, no way they were staying longer on a Sat night. Just being honest. Some of our past home games were announced at ridiculous total...

I get the point about attendance in baseball rivaling that of basketball at a lot of places, the ticket revenue is dwarfed by the money associated with making the NCAA basketball tourney. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought a unit was earned, good for 6 years, for each game played in the tourney....

Re: Where are the bells and whisltes for Rick Jones at Tulane?

Rick hated LSU as badly as any of us and rightly so. Skip Bertman had and has an ego. But I'm not sure that was an ego move. He had just lost his last game, ego had nothing to do with it. My understanding was Skip asked to simply talk privately to the Greenies about what to expect, and that the medi...

I said that from the beginning. They should've incorporated a new Wilson Center (behind Hertz or on top of it, i.e. build vertical) into the plan, and built the new stadium facing the other way, i.e. sidelines along the baseball stadium and Hertz and smaller end zone sections near Audubon and Ben We...

Re: Tulane Football 1998 season rated best in CUSA history

The BCS formula in those early years was ridiculously stacked. You had to finish top 6 to force an at large bid, not top 16 (& highest ranked non-BCS conference) like in later years. If the top 16 rules later applied had been applied in 1998, Tulane would've received a BCS auto bid. Even in spite of...
