Re: Sumrall Era Begins

There have been many decades when saying that Tulane was the “right place at the right time” would be just nice words to say. That’s all different now for one reason, which is why I believe that he meant it, and is selling incoming players on it as well. The reason is simply that the twelve team CFP...

Re: LSU basketball & Wade are in big trouble

Me thinks viewing Wade as the “bad guy”, and thinking that LSU firing him would be a form of justice, is a relatively naive perspective. More than likely, both Wade and JP Funes did what others within the athletic department, etc. we’re well aware of. This is much more likely a wider systemic issue,...

Re: Fritz speaks with Arkansas, Missouri up next

Despite all of the angst in this thread , I see no surprises here. We’ve always been a stepping stone for coaches here. However, we’ve become even more of one when a 60 year old coach attempts to bolt with his marginal record with us. Most probable scenario is that he wants out period. Probably tire...

Wow! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think you are being ridiculously hard on Ed in this case. There were certainly times in the past when I disagreed with his angles, such as defending coaching stability when the train was clearly off the track (i.e. CJ), and his chastising of TU f...

Re: SMU Breaks Tulane's Heart 35-31

I don't think not going for 2 was a major mistake. I do think that the fourth down call was poor coaching decision. Not the fact that we went for it or necessarily the play call itself, but rushing the play when you should be trying to run clock. To me that shows a coach that doesn't have his act to...

I've been able to attend only 3 games this year. Every game concessions are terrible. They either don't have any of something or you are asked to wait lengths of time for something to be ready. Yesterday used free popcorn coupon from season ticket book, and it took approval from a person who looked ...

Re: Baseball Coaching Search

This is a very interesting situation. TD's searches and ultimate choices in Fritz and Dunleavy appear to be solid, considering the prior state of both programs. Baseball is a little different in that the program has a more successful, relatively recent successful track record to build off of. With t...

Re: AAC Conference Tourney

This discussion regarding the importance of a conference tourney championship is getting slightly skewed. Of course there are many teams that have gone on to great success and did not win their conference tournament. In fact, if the truth be told, some great teams "bowed out" of their tour...

You are correct in that there is no reason to worry, per my previous comments, but every GOOD Tulane coach HAS been hired away, and, if you consider 17 years a "long time", then OK.

Re: Tulane Can Break - Up "The Biggest Recruiting Advantage In College FB"

I simply can't understand all of the credence that y'all place in every word that a coach speaks, especially words such as "many years" and "long haul". First, while I hope that Coach Fritz is the absolute best coach in Tulane history, and that he stays here for decades to a ripe...

Re: Potential Offensive Coordinator Candidates

This topic scares me. It's defeatist in nature. The problem here is so obviously deeper than just the OC. How much will empty seats cost TU, not to mention ongoing public embarrassment. There has never been a more obvious time to clean house. We should be raising the roof to upgrade now or simply fo...

Re: How many ways will this get uglier?

PMHO - I firmly disagree. Losing to Duke, even by the score that we did is not the issue. The team looking unprepared, unconditioned, and undisciplined, as well as the total lack of game management AGAIN, are the issues!

With all due respect, I simply can't understand the tone of this thread... 1) Year 1 - Head coach does ok because of assistants. 2) Good assistants depart for "greener pastures". 3) Countless times along the way Head coach looks clueless. Teams consistently lack conditioning, grasp of fund...

Re: How many ways will this get uglier?

I am one of the many who cancelled my season tickets this year and chose to view game 1 on TV rather than purchasing a single game ticket. I made this decision solely due to coaching. Those who joined me may have a perspective that others who attended do not. That perspective comes from TV sideline ...

So let me get this straight, and please calm down and think logically for just a moment. You actually think, based upon TU's cultural past and present, that they are going to suddenly see their way out of financial demise via athletics?!!!

Re: Tired of Tulane Athletics...............................

The internal Tulane culture doesn't demand athletic excellence. It hasn't for quite some time (out of design) and it's highly doubtful that it ever will. This exists at all levels - academia, board, students... There simply is no reason for them to implement change. We are an extremely small conting...

Re: Tired of Tulane Athletics...............................

This may seem somewhat counterintuitive, but Dickson may simply be the face of the problem, but not the real problem at all. If a simple business assessment has been done, and the projected IRR is bleak, then the self-imposed (but obviously unpublicized) strategy becomes "mediocrity". If &...

Re: Tulane's 1973 14-0 win over LSU rated 9th greatest momen

This 1973 game may have been the "9th" best for NO sports overall, but to a true TU fan with the years of age required to have the perspective, it was undoubtedly "#1". I was there in 1973, as well as 1979, 1981, 1982 1998... All were loads of fun, but none compared to 1973 in my...
