Re: David Pierce

My point was he knew his streak was coming to an end here . I didn't say it was the only reason. Yes he was the 12th choice. He is a good coach. He can also recruit there. He had never dealt with the tuition issue as a HC and he did a poor job of recruiting here. bullsh*t he knew it was coming to a...

Re: 2018 Schedule CFN preview's

Man I've looking at the UAB game pretty nervously because they won 8 games in year 1! Didn't realize their schedule was so damn bad!! It seems they played much better at home however, pulling out many close games. If we wanna go bowling we gotta win UAB Totally agree, and it's no gimme game. They'l...

Re: David Pierce

Although he wasn't UT's first choice, he wasn't #12 either. C'.mon man.

He did a GREAT job at Tulane (and followed a legendary Coach Jones) and got one of the best gigs for a college baseball coach as a result. We'd be lucky as hell to have another David Pierce as our next baseball coach.

Re: David Pierce

In Year 2 leads Texas to Big 12 title. The Longhorns needed to take care of their business this weekend to earn a Big 12 regular season title. They went out and swept TCU at home to win the program’s first league regular season title since 2011. Kody Clemens (Roger’s son) hit yet another home run i...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

He's a definite 1st rounder after the combine. He's a perfect fit for teams drafting late in the 1st who just want a guy to play 15-20 minutes, be a versatile defender and hit the occasional 3. Love to see him in Celtics uniform, Stevens would get the best out of his defensive abilities. I totally ...

Re: Fritz on verge of extension

This is Tulane we're talking about. Yes, the same Tulane that leaked the rumor of his imminent extension before Christmas, is now going to sit on the news that the deal was completed? I don't think so. I think it was all a strategic ploy to counter-act the rumors that Fritz was being cons...

If he signed an extension the University would announce it. Until they do so, it's a rumor, or hearsay.

Re: Andy Cannizaro

PW, would you like to bet me $10,000 per year going forward on Tulane making the NCAAs? Sure a coach may make a difference in whether the team is close or just crap. My point is that there's not many guys out there who will make a difference that would even take the job under our present circumstan...

Re: Fritz on verge of extension

I like Fritz but a contract extension is ridiculous. He hasn't had a wining season yet. What's the rush. this is almost like rick dickson is still around. I have two names for al of you, Buddy Teevens and Bob Toledo. I hope that we are not going back to any of those times. NO winning seasons, and h...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

SI mock has him going #33 http://www.nola.com/pelicans/index.ssf/2018/05/nba_mock_draft_roundup_where_w.html All four of the polls cited in that article contradict the thread title but I'm crossing my fingers that they're wrong. In that article, NBAdraft.net has him going at #59. If he lasts that l...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

Very happy he's having a great Combine and hope this leads to him getting chosen in the first round. The highlights, against pretty damned good competition, were awesome. I'm also glad to see he cut his hair. The dreadlocks pushed into Mickey Mouse ears whenever he played in Orlando were silly.

Re: Bought Short

I've heard of selling short, but never "bought short". I've also known of buying to cover a short sale, but that's something entirely different. We're getting $1.5 million to get clobbered in Columbus. Take the check and hope we get out of the game injury free.

Thanks for the link, win. Good read. Fritz said returning senior punter Zach Block, who averaged 39.2 yards last year, will have to win an open competition with incoming freshman Ryan Wright to retain his job. I can only hope our punting game gets better with the arrival of Ryan Wright (my fingers ...

Re: 2018 Baseball Schedule

And our chances of pulling off the miracle AAC Tournament victory are slim. We don't have the pitching to win four games in 5 days. You cannot count on all your players having their best games at the same time, it just doesn't work that way in baseball. I would love to eat crow on this post, but I j...

Cowen was the worst thing that ever happened to Tulane. And he keeps on taking away from the University. PLEASE cut all ties, f...

I doubt he takes a meaningful snap this season, and may not ever start at QB while at Missou. Can you play WR young Mr. Scott?

There's at least 60 players that are somewhere "projected first round draft picks." We'll see how it plays out. Hopefully he not only gets drafted in the first round, but invests his money wisely, setting himself up for life. A significant number of former athletes are broke a couple of years after ...

The O-Line looked very inconsistent in the spring game. There were some holes and Dauphine and Bradwell took advantage of them, but on other plays the D-Line (which is supposed to be our weak point) pushed the O-Line into the backfield and blew up the play. Our special teams are concerning, especial...

Cowen was penny wise and dollar foolish. He could never see the big picture. He really set Tulane athletics back for the ages.
He set Tulane back for the ages, not just Tulane Athletics. He still is clueless. The gift that keeps on taking.

Re: QB preseason Rankings

If he stays healthy he'll be ranked #1 at the end of the season. That's a bold prediction for a QB in a run first offense. And yes, I know, he averaged over 200 yards passing per game the last 5 or so games of the season. He needs to NOT be our leading ball carrier in order for this offense to take...

I'm a founding member of the Tulane Hockey Club. Our first year we played at a rink in a mall in Metairie. When that closed, we all pitched in and helped build a rink in an old warehouse. This was way back in the early 80's.
