Re: That's a Wrap

No, I'm not saying our D was good. But it wasn't terrible, either. The ball control of Fritz's offense covers up a lot of the weakness of the D. And people on this board post as if players that graduate, transfer or leave the team leave a gap that is not filled by another player. We're not playing 3...

Re: That's a Wrap

Those same players had been on defenses that most of our fans lauded. The new scheme didn't work out. Hopefully the staff adjust there. Agreed. Moving Aruna inside was the biggest glaring mistake. At the same time, there was TONS of "gloom and doom" predictions about our D in 2017 this ti...

Re: That's a Wrap

Fritz doesn't come out and say it, but I think he believes we'll be ok on D. Yes, we lost 8 players that played a lot on the defensive side of the ball. But it's not like our D was anything special and there's nobody to replace them. Some are significant (Nickerson) some are replaceable. It has to b...

Re: New Commit - Ryan Wright P from CA

Yes, I'd use a scholarship on players that only punt, placekick and long snap. Ideally you find a long snapper that can fill in as a backup at multiple O-line positions. But special teams, as we've witnessed the past 5 or so years, are not very special unless all three of those positions are filled ...

Re: That's a Wrap

Interesting and I welcome being corrected but I have never seen Fritz throw anyone under the bus when there is a failure. From Navy game on down, it is always we/I (coaching staff) have to do a better job and help players and whoever else to perform better. That is the most refreshing thing about h...

Re: Leeward Brown 3 star OL original Miami commit

From past discussions I don't think it impacts Tulane if they leave in good academic standing. As for Brown I hope things work out for him. He backed up Briggs who some say was our weakest link on this weak unit and yet he couldn't regain his starting spot. I have said before that WF does everythin...

Re: Coaching Changes

We shall agree to disagree. Common opponent this year: ECU. Both teams played at ECU. JMU beat the Pirates by 20 points, we beat them by 7, in OT. They're D1 football teams, not Euroleague vs. NBA. And both JMU and NDSU have histories of beating FBS teams. NDSU has won their last three against Big 1...

Re: Coaching Changes

I wonder what the buyout is if he decides to leave? Mike Houston is a very good coach. I also wonder if this isn't a clue that JMU is once again thinking about moving up to FBS? They made overtures to do so a couple of years ago and then declined an invite to a certain G5 conference because it wasn...

Re: Coaching Changes

It's shameful that SMU replaced Morris with Dykes. SMU and UCF each had an opportunity for huge hires and they both blew it. That's not to say that their coaches won't work out, but it is to say that there were better options available at the time. I won't say it is shameful...but it is damn surpri...

Re: New Commit - Ryan Wright P from CA

From what I saw on Twitter, GC is looking for someplace else to play next year as a grad transfer. I not only don't blame him one bit, I wish him well. I hope he finds a home where he can play out his last year of eligibility. He won't see the field at Tulane next year, and he deserves a chance to ...

Fritz, Dunleavy and Jewett looking for their first winning season in year two (Fritz year 3 maybe) WBB and VB in the tank. You can change your grade! Volleyball seems to be his best hire. Young team and early injuries...but still a very competitive team. The good news is NOBODY is going to be tryin...

If I'm not mistaken, Dykes was a Sandy Barbour hire at Cal. One of her last major hires.

Re: Tulane Women lost to LSU 73-50

That's disappointing, given that Lisa Stockton is the coach with the best track record among the top three revenue sports. Yes, I knew this would be somewhat of a rebuilding year, but typically Lisa's teams are very well coached.

good ole Gatorade...did ya know that the University of Florida's Athletic Dept receives close to 15 million per year for the Formula and Naming Rights to "Gatorade'.... I'm surprised that patent didn't expire 20-30 years ago! Naming rights wouldn't surprise me, but I thought Patents had a limi...

I wish him all the best. He's got plenty of speed, and seems to be a fine young man. I hope he finds a good new home, and gets a degree that will serve him well for life after football.

Re: Coaching Changes

I can't believe this is even a conversation. WF is not going anywhere. He won't interview for the job. He hasn't accomplished anything worthy of someone offering him another job. He has improved the culture and to some degree the talent, but nobody hires you for a D1 football job on those merits. G...

The exchange of opinions is what makes this site much more interesting. There's nothing wrong with posting opinion, especi...

No chance against FSU who plays incredible defense. They are long and fast. Tulane FG % may dip into twenties until trash time late. Thanks for letting us know in advance the score will be 62-0 so we can save our time prepping for the Saints-Falcons game. Can you send this memo to Dunleavy and ask ...

I remain a fan of Chris Scelfo and am surprised he has not had better opportunities. I still like Chris Scelfo and I hate the bashing he gets on this site but you just can't punt on third down. The third down punt will haunt him, though he's not the first coach to do so (nor will he be the last!) I...
