Re: Destin Dotson

Good news as he's considered a top 60 pitcher prospect in the country. I'll try not to hold his love of the Yankees against him.

New baseball commit: http://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/high_schools/article_a43ef720-f63e-11e7-8ce4-5f45160fab30.html Two strange things about that article: first the caption under the picture of Dotson "Scotlandvlle pitcher Destin Dotson (8) pitches in the third inning of Catholic...

Re: Houston Game Thread

Most morning flights were cancelled or seriously delayed. Starting at 1 PM (at least as of now) most flights are still showing scheduled and on time. So the Coogs will probably get here, but much later than they expected. Who knows if it's going to help or hurt their effort tonight. I-10 was closed ...

Re: Preston Gordon

I know the local DT is enrolling in January. Did the other kid, I believe from Mississippi, get his issues cleared so that he can enroll? Both were solid recruits, the one from Mississippi (as we know) was recruited by a bunch of big name schools until a medical scare last summer.

Re: Lindsey Scott

Could the weather play a factor, since just about every school and college has shut down till at least Thursday? Doubtful. That's an extremely local situation. Many colleges don't close unless its a hurricane/tornado situation. Schools are different, school districts have children in busses all ove...

Re: Junior Diaz Gone

Leglue,Johnson,McCleod,Briggs,Dublin ,Brown and Knighton all have experience. I didn't know Knighton has another year left, but he does. A rare grad student that didn't have to sit out and had two years eligibility when he got here. We'll need some of these guys to step up, but we already knew that...

Re: Junior Diaz Gone

Again, unless we know the real inside story, it's hard to not make something up and think that's the reason for the young man's decision to leave after 4 years and two degrees. It could be that he wants to experience something else from a football standpoint, or it could be that he wants a graduate ...

Re: Lindsey Scott

If he didn't sign yesterday, I'm pretty damned sure he's not eligible for spring practice anywhere. That chart sited above makes that clear, as does Guerry Smith in his article in the Advocate (online) January 10th, announcing McClain transferring: McClain, a strong-armed 6-foot-3, 220-pound freshma...

Re: Junior Diaz Gone

Biggest loss of the offseason. This creates a big hole in the middle of the O-Line. Diaz was instrumental in calling out the blocking assignments. We better coach someone up quickly to replace him. I wonder where he'll go for his PG year?

Re: Navy coach to Arizona?

Actually the job was his until the U of A president ordered the job offer rescinded after the U of A QB tweeted that he did not come to Arizona to run the triple option . Probably explains to a great degree our trouble getting QB's to commit here !!!! If that's the reason they went with Sumlin over...

The Shamrock Series 2018: http://www.und.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/120717aaa.html Not an added opponent, as ND was going to play Syracuse in 2018 as part of it's agreement with the ACC. They just moved the game to Yankee Stadium. Says zero about our ability to get on their schedule and actually ...

Re: Lindsey Scott commits to LSU now transferring to EMCC

I just looked at that guidance, and it says signing date, not deadline. I tend to still think that each school's policies will determine if a player is a student for the spring semester. If spring practice isn't important to a player, then he can sign any time he wants, but can't sign before Januar...

Re: 1998 National Champs!

OK, so to be fair, we only had 7 blowouts in an 11 game season. It was a hell of a fun season. I remember after the Rutgers game one of the O-Linemen was being interviewed on the radio up in the metro NYC area about the offense. He said "we know we have the other team beat when they have their...

Re: Lindsey Scott commits to LSU now transferring to EMCC

Help me guys, doesn’t the below NLI chart say for Football: (Midyear JC Transfer) initial signing date: December 20, 2017; Final signing date: January 15, 2018? Anybody know this stuff? I don’t. http://www.nationalletter.org/signingDates/future.html That’s for Midyear enrollment. He’s already gradu...

Re: 1998 National Champs!

D, if you notice, I specifically did NOT call that game a blowout win. I said, "we won two by 10, and two by 14", one of which was the Army game. I remember that game as well. But if we had played that game for 10 quarters, we still would have won, because Army was never going to stop us....

Re: 1998 National Champs!

Because it’s bush league as f**k to do so I kind of agree with drunk MsDos. Claiming a national title seems a little like claiming this was a bowl-game year. Our peer schools would probably be amused by this. I can imagine the quotes on their forums: "That's the only championship Tulane will w...

Re: Final: UCONN 67, Tulane 57

I think the coaches have a much better feel of the players abilities and who should get minutes and when they should get minutes. I don't try to think I know more than guys that have made a living in the game that I'm simply a fan of. Yes, we all have opinions, but sometimes when they come across a...

I cannot believe netshorty knows more about basketball than Mike Dunleavy, Sr. Scary huh? Yeah, especially since you're an anonymous internet poster and he's been around the game at the highest levels for 50+ years. Who do you consider our peer schools? My guess is, there isn't another school in the AAC other than UCF that's had a football NC, ever. So they're not really in a position to laugh, are they? Maybe Navy has. I think SMU went undefeated, but they were on "probation'... They list as having 3 nat...
