Re: Wake's QB Suspended

Newman is definitely a downgrade. Yes. But he’ll get a lot more work now to prepare for his start. And they have all five starters back from an outstanding offensive line. They'll probably still run their up tempo offense, which at times last year was running plays at 12 second intervals. We better...

Re: NCAA Rule Changes

The ones you really want are players like Stephon Huderson, who signed in Dec just so he could start in school in Jan. A full year he was committed and he never wavered on that. You'll win with players like that, because at the end of they day, they're the ones that will gut it out in the fourth qu...

Our chances just improved. Hinton is suspended for the first three games. Timing is everything.
That definitely improves our chances. He was a backup last year, but a pretty experienced backup, with 4 career starts, Few felt that their offense was going to skip a beat.

Re: AAC Attempts at Power Status

That's true, but there are ceilings in the G5. If anyone wants to claim otherwise, one can simply point them to Boise State - a program that has been a consistent winner but could not hit 32k in average attendance (incl. MWC championship game) in the 11th season since 2001 that it has finished in t...

Re: AAC Attempts at Power Status

Directly, winning has little to do with getting into the "P Club". The primary requirement for an individual school getting into a P conference is it's ability to generate revenue--from filling at least 40,000 seats each weekend, to attracting hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of TV viewers. ...

Great highlight film, well done! Mel plays bigger than his 6'6" when he's close to the rim, and has no issues taking it up among bigs.

Re: AAC Attempts at Power Status

The AAC isn't getting anything close to P5 TV money in 2020, even if it goes undefeated in bowl games the next two years. Our ratings don't justify P5 money. We may get a significant bump, but nothing close to $25 - 35 million per University. I hope the conference signs a bunch of short term deals a...

Re: AAC Attempts at Power Status

Frankly, I think the AAC becoming the sixth "Power" conference and getting TV deals and access to the ESPN tournament is more likely to happen than Tulane getting an invite to a P5. It could be that the P5 become P4, 4 conferences of 16 Universities each. The next 5-10 years are going to see a lot o...

Re: David Pierce

Everyone on this site should know about the issue with the big classes eating up money . I posted several times over the years that we had got in a rut of having to sign big classes every 4 years b/c those classes didn't have enough good players in them to move on after 3years. However that wasn't ...

Re: Troy Dannen

Troy was named to the Competition Oversight Committee by the NCAA. I think it's recognition that Troy is well respected among his peers, as this isn't the top Competition Committee, but it's probably the 2nd most important. The Competition Oversight Committee will have oversight responsibility of re...

If anyone watched the video of Rob Kelley at the camp he held at Yulman, two things stand out: 1. The Tulanegreenwave.com site posted a video from another source that has half of the content which has nothing to do with Tulane and wasn't shot at Yulman. 2. "Fat Rob" seems to be in damned good shape,...

It is no coincidence that the only Tulane NCAA Tournament appearances in the last 8-10 years were by teams coached by David Pierce. DId he do it with other coaches players? Absolutely, but he DID IT!

Re: David Pierce

Roger Clemens talks to the team: https://twitter.com/texasbaseball/status/1005217034177658880?s=21 I like how he talks about "controlled emotion". That's a stark contrast to the 'roid rage he displayed in the 2000 World Series and other times in his career. Pierce has done a great job at Texas, and...
