Re: Superdome / Benson Revenue

We clearly had a sweetheart deal at the Dome, but then again, it went back to when the Dome was built, and how Tulane was joined at the hip with the birth of the Saints. The later days of Tulane in the Dome, when we were drawing 5K fans (and I say that's generous, given I could count the fans one ye...

Big overachievement just to get to the SEC tournament not to mention a CWS semi final. Incredible accomplishment for Jake and the Bulldogs. Hope things work out for this Tulane Hall of Famer.

Re: Future OOC Games

tufinal4, that's exactly my point: it makes more sense to play Tulane every year than it does to play some of the rent-a-wins they play each and every year. It would take some creativity, and probably some concessions from the 'Dome, (like splitting the gate, parking and concessions in New Orleans) ...

Re: Future OOC Games

They don’t have any interest in watching the teams you named either that’s why their actual attendance for those games is about 25k less than announced and even worse after halftime. They don't have any interest in those teams, yet their AD scheduled them anyway. So why would it hurt LSU to schedul...

Re: Future OOC Games

And not for nothing, but look at how well the Tulane v LSU baseball games draw even when we stink. LSU didn't sell out a single game last year. They still ranked 6th in the country in attendance. But I cannot imagine Tulane vs. LSU not doing at least as well as LSU vs. Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Missouri...

Re: Future OOC Games

They did. It just seems weird for Tulane to have to leave this region to schedule P5s given how many big names nearby unless its scheduling a nationally relevant team such as USC, Ohio State, Notre Dame, or FSU. That's where NOT having LSU on our schedule every year hurts us. If we had them on an a...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

Which means now no guaranteed contract? Last year the 35th pick: Memphis Grizzlies: Ivan Rabb, F/C (Cal): Signed Three-year, $3.95MM contract. First two years fully guaranteed. While I'm sure Melvin and his agent were disappointed to not go higher, if he gets anything close to this type of deal, it...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

Which means now no guaranteed contract? Not necessarily. As we learned earlier in this thread, some second round picks get guaranteed deals, some do not. He can always threaten to play a couple of years overseas then come back. I wish Melvin the best. And pray he doesn't do the same thing with his ...

AJC: what does SWIDT mean?

Encalade has some speed, Mooney has sure hands and can go over the middle, but Clewis seemed pretty slow footed. Another speedster (especially if he can quickly develop a report with Banks) will do wonders for this offense.

Re: Tulane Baseball still amongst the Elites

We can sugar coat it all we want, but the program is in really bad shape right now. More or less. Tulane really needs its fundraising to go well. This is a serious thread drift, and I should probably post it in a Cowen related thread. MIT had their graduation on 6/8/2018. In the program for their g...

Just as I question OU coming to New Orleans in 2021, I hope Northwestern makes it to the game at Yulman in 2025. Yeah, I'm with you, D. I'll believe it when I see it. Espesially OU. Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

All of this speculation ends Thursday. Very few, if any, clubs are willing to leak who they are going to pick, yet "experts" and all sort of sports reporters are convinced they know who's going to be picked # 3, 5, 13, 28 or 35th. I love how few picks these guys get right every year. And the "expert...

Re: Wake's QB Suspended

Newman is definitely a downgrade. Yes. But he’ll get a lot more work now to prepare for his start. And they have all five starters back from an outstanding offensive line. They'll probably still run their up tempo offense, which at times last year was running plays at 12 second intervals. We better...

The ones you really want are players like Stephon Huderson, who signed in Dec just so he could start in school in Jan. A full year he was committed and he never wavered on that. You'll win with players like that, because at the end of they day, they're the ones that will gut it out in the fourth qu...

Our chances just improved. Hinton is suspended for the first three games. Timing is everything.
That definitely improves our chances. He was a backup last year, but a pretty experienced backup, with 4 career starts, Few felt that their offense was going to skip a beat.

That's true, but there are ceilings in the G5. If anyone wants to claim otherwise, one can simply point them to Boise State - a program that has been a consistent winner but could not hit 32k in average attendance (incl. MWC championship game) in the 11th season since 2001 that it has finished in t...

Re: AAC Attempts at Power Status

Directly, winning has little to do with getting into the "P Club". The primary requirement for an individual school getting into a P conference is it's ability to generate revenue--from filling at least 40,000 seats each weekend, to attracting hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of TV viewers. ...
