Re: Big XII Expansion

Lurker here. I feel like with just about every major thing that has happened w/ Tulane's AD that there have been massive leaks and rumors all over the place well in advance of it happening. The fact that no one has hard information on the B12 even being interested from the Tulane side is really tell...

Re: Gameday Thread Tulane vs. Georgia Tech

So much for home field advantage -- the high rollers can't be bothered to be in their seats making noise.

This color guy is a moron.

You don't win football games as a mid-major dog by playing conservative, not-to-lose football.

Why so many empty seats in the lower level? Looks like the game isn't sold out on TV.

Re: Yulman Expansion

We will get someone else decent and they will be gone the moment they win. Maybe, maybe not. Just for the record, the last time they showed the Yulman plans to a set of prospective coaches they were turned down by every candidate that had an option. Just for the record, no attractive coaching prosp...

Re: Yulman Expansion

Tulane and Tulsa are tied with the lowest stadium seating capacity in the American Athletic Conference. The next-lowest is Southern Methodist at 32,000. Both Cincinnati and South Florida top 65,000 seats. The conference average is 48,022. God, The T-P is just garbage at any kind of factual research...

Re: Share your memories of old Tulane Stadium for TP feature

Apparently they used to open Tulane stadium for people / campus visitors to sleep in during Mardi Gras. My father in law drove down from Ohio (where he was in school) and said he spent the entire weekend on a sleeping bag in one of the concourses underneath the stands. Don't know if it's true or not...

I'm watching Baylor play SMU in the new stadium that RGIII built. It's a $266 million facility and surprisingly seats only 45 thousand. http://www.baylor-stadium.com The future of sports facilities is low capacity / high-end experience. The era of endless rows of nosebleed seats died with the adven...

Last night was disappointing and on the surface seems like same ole Tulane snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. But if you watched the entire game and have watched Tulane football the last decade and can't appreciate the positives from last night, I feel sorry for you. Nick Saban constantly p...

Re: Georgia Tech: Must Win Game

I wouldn't call it a must win, though Tulane needs to be competitive. I would say that a win over GT would be Tulane's biggest victory since 1998. If the program wants to change, the program and it's supporters need to stop being satisfied with "being competitive." A "competitive&quo...

Re: ESPN College Football Nation Drop Down Menu

ESPN drives the national conversation about sports. By all reasonable measures, "The American" is a garbage conference. It's a fair sight better than Conference USA, but it still fails to measure up to any of the other Power-5 in terms of programs with national prestige. BUT, having said t...

The eyeballs of a city and a nation of alums will be on the team for the opening of Yulman Stadium. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to convince people that it isn't "Same Old Tulane" that is unworthy of their time, attention, and financial support. The team must win next week. P...

Re: Tulsa umiliates Tulane football team

The turning point was the series right before half. Possible 14 point swing in under a minute. Could have been 28-7 instead 21-14. That momentum shift was too much to overcome. But if we just make a 21 yard kick we win in spite of all the mistakes. We knew all along our kicking was going to be susp...

Re: Tulsa umiliates Tulane football team

Sky is not falling. Just because Tulsa was 3-9 last year doesn't mean they suck. Our offense looked light years better than last year. Just watching them, they were terrible. They were forced to bring tons of blitzes because their secondary couldn't cover -- even an average team should have shredde...

All this momentum behind the program, and they go and lay an egg in the 2nd half against a bad Tulsa team.

Tulane -- perpetually with self-inflicted gunshot wounds in the foot.

For a school of 12,000 students, the student section is absolutely an appropriate size. Are you suggesting they should have allocated capacity for 50-60% participation among students? That would be ridiculous.

The idea of Tulane students lining up to see a Tulane sporting event doesn't even seem real. I hope they can keep up the momentum once the "new stadium smell" wears off.
