Re: SBNATION on The Wave

UAB and Wake should tell us what kind of team/season we'll have. Our conference play is much more difficult than OOC. Here's our schedule sorted by S&P win probability: Nicholls State 84% East Caroline 74% @Tulsa 50% Navy 48% SMU 43% @UAB 41% @Cinxinnati 38% Memphis 30% @Houston 26% Wake Forest 25%...

Re: SBNATION on The Wave

A CFN view https://collegefootballnews.com/2018/03/american-athletic-conference-2018-spring-rankings-analysis This one is particularly dated, as it pre-dates Junior Diaz transferring. Or it's just lousy reporting. I think it was lazy reporting. But I don't think it changes where Tulane would rank. ...

Re: SBNATION on The Wave

It’s hard not to at least be a little disappointed that in year 3 of Fritz, Tulane has greater than 50% chance of winning only 1 of its 12 games using one set of advanced metrics. It’s also disappointing that, in year 3, a 6-7 record would be something to truly celebrate. Granted, if Tulane has a b...

Nice little graphic. Size is one thing, being able to play inside seems to be entirely something else. Let's hope some of this size starts to payoff!

Re: Basketball Recruiting -- 2017

I'm glad we're getting Connor, and do think he's under-rated. Was leading scorer on one of the best Prep teams in the nation, one that only played other Prep Post Grad teams. There's higher ranked recruits coming out of Hargrave, but nobody filled the basket more than Crabtree. Now, if we can land ...

Re: Spring Practice

Under the new rules it appears we are at the max and can't bring anyone else this season. Yikes. Fritz seems like he's building a solid program bottom up and this should be a corner turning year. However we're one knee/ankle/shoulder injury away from same old same old Tulane. Finally we get a disci...

Re: Basketball Recruiting -- 2017

I still think we should hire Tubby Smith. It seemed like the ideal move would’ve been for Memphis to keep Tubby and bring on Penny as a HC in waiting. The Larry Brown rumors suggest it’s what the higher ups want too, something Brown was able to implement at SMU. But Penny and Tubby both seem to hav...

Re: Tulane Loses the WSU Series

Will be interesting to see if dannen pushes for staff changes or the status quo remains from tricky Ricky.

AAC is a damned good baseball conference and Tulane should be pushing for the title most years. Inaction is unacceptable.

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick

If Frazier gets anywhere near #1, even if that’s just getting drafted in the first round then Tulane needs to spend 50/100k to put fatheads of Frazier in every single high school and AAU gym in the gulf coast!

Re: Dishonest Question

Considering how crappy this program has been fo so long, this is just as bad as the death penalty. Worse I'd argue. All those top teams have shown that if you can put together 5/10 years of good to great basketball then you can get through the sanctions and retain the prestige. Louisville became a ...

Dishonest Question

If Georgia wants to put itself on the college basketball map, reaching for former Louisville coach Rick Pitino would be one way to do it. His name is being mentioned for the Bulldogs job that became vacant on Saturday with the dismissal of Mark Fox, according to ESPN college basketball analyst Jay ...

Re: Temple ends Tulane's season 82-77 in the AAC Tourney

I hope he makes changes to his staff. He needs help with recruiting. I doubt it happens as it appears he thinks he can do it by himself. That doesn't bode well for the program. As noted by someone else above I refuse to compare this to last years 6 win debacle. That is the worst case of low bar syn...

Who still enjoys going to Tulane sporting events? I used to look forward to going to the games (Football, Basketball and Baseball), but hardly go anymore. It is not fun to watch your team constantly lose and give games away. The last winning record for the three sports mentioned was the 2016 baseba...

Re: Memphis considering replacing Tubby Smith with Penny Hardaway

Tubby has won 19 regular season games in his first two years. Not good enough for the Tiger faithful. They're gonna have to pay him 9.75 million buyout! Houston, Memphis, UCF are very serious about putting out top25 programs in football AND basketball. Is Tulane out of its league in the AAC?? Time ...

Re: CFN's 2018 AAC Preview

Couple thoughts: -Interesting they put TCU @ SMU as the 10th best OOC game for AAC. I expect SMU to be in shambles this year and TCU is gonna improve on the 20 point beating they gave the ponies this year. - Should be a lot of conference brethren watching our kickoff game against Wake. UCF/UCONN wil...

Tulane harvests a bountiful recruiting crop for 2018

Tulane Head Coach Willie Fritz has a long history of turning around moribund programs, and he seems well on his way to rebuilding the Green Wave with the 2018 recruiting class. The Wave signed 22 players during the early signing period and augmented those numbers with three more players on February...

Just watched the highlights/replay. One thing I like about this frustrating season is that Dunleavy can coach and keep kids playing tough at the end of the game. We've had countless games where we make runs in the waning minutes.

With so much of the class coming on the defensive side of the ball, it's gonna be interesting to see if a see-saw effect develops for next year, with a huge offensive class in 19
