Re: Dannen and Fritz to KU?

Its beautifully ironic that Dannen lost out to someone with ties to the Dickson administration. Dannen wants out badly, and only Fritz is saving Dannen from an awful tenure as AD. Best of luck to Travis at KU - great guy but he has a really tough job ahead.

Re: Tulane’s difficulty with transfers

The sad reality is men's basketball, like football, has been able to get in whomever it wants. The department gets a certain number of special admits each year (below 2.8 GPA/22 ACT), and they go primarily to the football and men's basketball teams, and anyone who meets NCAA minimums is admissible. ...

Re: Potential Men’s Basketball Coaches thread

Well...........speaking of limits - Tulane has reached the limit of futility. 0-16 in conference. Only 4 out of 300 some Division I teams are winless in their conference (Tulane, Vandy, Portland, and Chicago State), and only Chicago State has fewer overall wins. Looks like the limit has been reached...

They should have never let Ruffin McNeill go. He's on the OU staff now. They could do a lot worse than bringing him back.

Joe Kaarlgard, Rice's AD, is definitely on the hot seat. Regardless, this would be a great move for Matt based on facilities, reputation of school and baseball program, and Houston area as a recruiting ground.

Reportedly Matt interviewed last Friday with Rice. Would be a great pickup for the Owls, though Wayne leaves big shoes for Matt to fill.

It's possible to do both Saints and the Wave, only he couldn't fly on the team plane. Gene Deckerhoff has done PBP for both FSU and the Bucs for many years.

Actually it's a finance major, rising senior, who doesn't want to go through any more back pain. But mobile and has a cannon, and throws better than any Fritz recruit to date.

Dang, I saw the thread title and was really hoping to get scoop on how Landry Walker is going to be post Keytaon Thompson and whether Shaw could bounce back this year. Losing Sportsnola hurts - both for HS coverage and Tulane coverage.

Lisa's best teams typically had a versatile 4 who did all the little things well - think Marion Williams, Lacey Vicknair, and Gwen Slaughter. Mia sounds likes she could fit that mold.

Riser would have been an even safer hire than Cannizaro. He had already shown he could do it as a head coach at a school with less resources than Tulane.

Re: Wake Forest Score Prediction Thread

Those of you expecting Tulane to score in the 20's are delusional. Wake's defense is pretty stout. They shut out BC, held FSU to 24, Louisville to 20, and even holding Clemson to 33 is 15 pts below Clemson's average. I believe they return 8 starters from that D. With Tulane having zero QB experience...

Merritt is longtime friends with Tulane walkon QB Desmond McGovern - they grew up together playing at Delta. Related to that, with the weak QB play in Spring ball, don't be surprised to see McGovern get a shot at QB. He was out this Spring but is 100% now - is 6'3, 200 and quite mobile (4.7 - 4.8). ...

Re: Tulane's New AD - Troy Dannen from NIU

Northern Iowa has been very successful for quite some time, and without great resources being #3 in a modestly populated state. And, he's been the head guy for several years so he won't be new at the leadership part like Patulski. Maybe not a home run, but at least a stand-up double. Like the hire a...

Alleva leaving was possibly the second best thing to happen off the field for Duke Athletics in the last half century - obviously hiring Coach K being the best. I wouldn't touch him.

Rather than sitting alone in the top row as she normally does at games (not very AD-like), she was chatting up Dr. Stewart, who is on the selection committee. IMO Dr. Stewart should have distanced himself from her while the process is ongoing.

Either way the product is painfully unwatchable. I do have to say its better watching with 5,000 in Yulman than with 5,000 in the dome.

Kickoff 7,000
2nd Quarter 9,000
3rd Quarter 4,000
4th quarter 1,500
Add them up and that's how you get to the announced figure of 21,500

Re: Duke Score Prediction Thread

I will preface this saying that while I am a Tulane fan who regularly attends games I am a Duke alum and that is where my heart is. Aside from special teams I think the two teams are fairly even talent-wise. Tulane has an opportunity to run the ball against a depleted Duke front 7, but Duke has one ...

Regardless of the improved line or Tanner's maturation, nothing will happen until we make a change at OC. Five years for Eric Price as an OC, five times he has failed to crack the top 100 of FBS in yards per game. Considering there are only 124 teams, that is incompetence of epic proportion, as he h...

Re: How many football games will Tulane win this upcoming season?

I will go with four, but that is with the team in its current state. I'm afraid we aren't done with regards to academic issues though, and if we lose any more key players my projected win total could go as low as 2. We still have the Price's, and other than a year more experience for the O-line and ...

Re: Local high school baseball hitting leaders.

I have seen Grant Mathews play quite a bit and am not sure he would be D1 caliber. He's a fine hitter (lefty, good contact, moderate power) at the 1A level, but not a great fielder as a first baseman. His HS teammate Michael Mann was an equally good hitter and is riding the pine at D3 Washington Uni...
