Re: Early Signing Dates for Football

This would work just like basketball/baseball/volleyball/softball....all of those sports sign before their senior seasons. One thing that you'll see is teams being less willing to allow certain "commits" to sign early. In that regard, it will help the recruit determine how much a school re...

Re: Zach Zubia

Zubia is already enrolled. He can't leave without sitting out this year, but I don't think he's going anywhere. He should be healthy enough to be a DH or play 1B, but I think we've got a logjam with Hunter Williams and Montalbano (who I don't think will be able to catch bc of his Tommy John...catche...

Re: Baseball Coaching Search

He'd be a good recruiter. California has a lot of great players who can pay the hefty tuition. There haven't been many good (or great) players coming out of the NOLA area specifically in a while. Tom Walter has NO chance at the job from what I'm told. Media (the Mackels specifically) are pushing for...

Re: Baseball Coaching Search

I can tell you with 99.9% certainty that Andy will accept the job if offered barring a last minute change of heart. He's not a guy who is going to leave South LA for another HC job unless he absolutely has to. His wife is an attorney still practicing in Metairie, and he doesn't want to uproot her an...

Re: Coach Pierce

My take on Allen leaving...if he thought that Pierce had a good shot at getting Texas, there's no way he leaves. Pierce could still go, but he's clearly their backup candidate. We all know what happens to those guys at good programs...if they aren't successful quickly, they get fired. My gut feeling...

Good frame, can run. Surprised at how good he looked in his highlights. Might be one of those players who was just overlooked. These kind of guys usually end up going to JUCO then transferring to Miss State, Ole Miss or Tennessee as juniors.

Re: Next Mens Basketball Coach

I think when TD said he'd get us a winner, he meant that he'd get us someone on the rise versus someone on the way down. That's why I'd look more to the mid to low major coaches who are on the way up versus re-treads and people who have never coached before. I'm not saying that hiring a guy who has ...

Re: Troy Dannen apologizes to Ed Conroy

Ed could clear all of this up easily, but he won't because he believes he shouldn't have been fired. To me, he had the power to squash this at the time too, but he chose to try to use it as a motivational tool and to make himself look good and it was a bad look on everyone. All he had to say was &qu...

Re: Tough loss: Osetkowski to transfer

None of the players on this current roster are irreplaceable. Osetkowski has turned into a pretty good player and we'll miss his best years, but if he doesn't want to be here we're better off without him. Same with the freshmen. They have talent, but if they're going to leave because Conroy got fire...

Re: Next Mens Basketball Coach

I just hope we hire a really good coach. I don't care where they come from, but the coach needs to be someone who gets it. Greenberg's resume is interesting. He's taken over three programs that hadn't had a ton of basketball success over the years, but he's only been to 3 NCAA tournaments in over 20...

As a lifelong TU fan, alumnus, and letterman, I'm glad that we finally have an AD who is doing what it takes to win. Rick Dickson was a terrible AD and many Of the athletes didn't respect him because frankly, he didn't take the time to get to know many of them. To me, this whole thing is ridiculous....

Re: Spring Football 2016 Dates Released

Jax- we have a very friendly schedule this year. Wake sucked last year, ULL finished the season on a horrible losing streak, UMass only won 2 or 3 games, we should beat Southern easily. The AAC, while a step up from CUSA, is hardly a murderer's row. We get Navy early in the season when they'll be br...

Re: EC thinks RD is still AD

"It's a process" is only acceptable in the first year of a rebuild, not the 5th or 6th. And that quote also better come after a quote like this..."Our record is completely unacceptable, and we've got to take a long look in the mirror to make sure this doesn't happen again." Good ...

Jimmy has no clue what he's talking about regarding Tulane or any of the players we are recruiting. He made repeated references in the chat to players coming to Tulane who have committed to other schools. The staff wouldn't be expending this much time and energy on a guy who they think won't qualify...

Re: Tulane Offers Tyriek Starks, Warren Easton QB

The timing would indicate that Starks is going to Kansas. I don't believe he's been on campus and he hasn't visited Ga Southern so the only school he's visited is Kansas. I don't think this says anything about our pursuit of the other 2 QBs. I think we're covering our bases in case we miss out. I'd ...

Kyler Murray will probably transfer to a JUCO for the Spring at the very least so he can play baseball. Don't be shocked if he never plays football again. He'd go high in the MLB draft in June if eligible and willing to sign.

You just have to be selective regarding who you take a chance on. I knew several of the Karr players from 2 years ago in the Willis, Noil class. We really just needed a president that would get out of the way and wouldn't inject himself into every little decision. Fitts wants to make his mark, and I think he sees that athletics was so badly botched and ignored by Cowen, etc. that it could be a real coup for him. Dannen and Fritz are a good s...

I know Fritz is saying that he'll work with the personnel we have here and fit the offense to what they do. That is only going to be temporary. He's recruiting QBs who can run from here on out. We won't be considering any strict pocket passers. I think he made that clear to Abraham, who isn't a runn...
