Re: Virginia Tech Beats Tulane 41-20- Military Bowl

That‘s what I’m hoping. A high energy younger coach will have us playing hard for 4 quarters and will compensate for some of the experienced talent we‘re losing. Still think we win this conference unless we have a ton of injuries or something like that.

Re: Are bowl games outside the playoffs worthless now?

Recognizing the obstacles we faced yesterday and looking realistically at what we saw on the field, given losses in transfers and early signing, what do others expect for the future? We made tremendous strides in national recognition, fan support, student support but having been an active fan since...

Re: Virginia Tech Beats Tulane 41-20- Military Bowl

I thought the effort was there and they didn't mail it in with built-in reasons to do so. I think Coach Sumrall has some good players and leaders to build around and think we'll win a lot of games next year. QB is going to have to be addressed through the portal and I'm sure he knows that. I do hope...

Troy‘s game is on the 23rd and ours on the 27th. It‘ll be interesting to see what he does. I feel for Troy but hope he‘s 100% committed to us starting Monday

Re: New HC profile

Im on board with Calhoun if Sumrall is going to Duke and what we have left is all the rest mentioned. He’s a winner and intelligent enough to understand what adjustments he‘ll have to make to be successful at Tulane. The guy could stay at USAFA forever…maybe he‘s looking for a new challenge and an o...

Someone on other board saying Troy Calhoun a candidate. Interesting. Similar to Fritz in that ran an option offense but won and experienced HC.

Re: New HC profile

Just finished a CLE with some very connected Tulane people (board member) and it sounds like we might have a coach as early as tomorrow. They were mum on who it is, but gave me some hints that it was an already sitting HC... If it is a sitting HC, here‘s my ranking list of probability: 1) Sumrall 2...

Re: New HC profile

Atkins doesn't have head coach experience, end of story. Curtis and Chris didn't have head coach experience and were lost! IMHO Yes, this is going to require an experienced successful head coach in the age of the portal. This going to be a complete rebuild and will need someone skilled and ready to...

Yes. If so they thinking it may help to save players from going into the portal (like they thought for baseball 🤔) If Nagle is named HC, I will no longer support Tulane athletics in any manner....and I will wish all GOTULA members and their Familes the best life has to offer I agree 100% but Guerry...

New HC profile

So since it’s highly likely Fritz is gone, what should TU be looking for in the next HC. Coordinator from a P5? Seasoned HC from another G5 or smaller school? Someone on the current staff (can’t think of anyone worthy). I think they need to pony up and pay a proven HC. That seems like the best formu...

Re: Willie Fritz to Houston

I don’t think Houston is a good fit for Fritz. I doubt he will be there more than 3 years. I don’t think it’s a good fit, either. Willie is not this high energy change agent coach. He’s not going to have the low bar expectations and patience Tulane gave him to win. That kind of money, he’s going to...

Re: Willie Fritz Coaching Watch

My concern is if we win tomorrow and get a NY6 bowl invite and *if* WF bolts next week that TU will dick around on a coaching search and that will be the story….and of course we get crushed in the game with some fill-in coach…2 great years wasted and back to square one

Re: 2023 AP/Coaches Poll

The Ole Miss game was the opportunity to really break into the top 10-15 rankings. Even winning out with this schedule, we were never going to. Hell, without the cache from last season with preseason ranking and visibility, we’d be where Toledo is right now. Just win out, get to the NY6 and win or a...

Re: week 5 AP Poll

The team that the G5 rep will face will be a great one. You’re looking at these candidates: Big Ten: Ohio St, Penn St, Mich (one left after Final four and Rose Bowl picks), SEC: BAMA, Ga, PAC 12: Wash or Ore ACC: Fla St or North Carolina Big 12: Texas or Oklahoma Pretty good crop. I’ll be honest, I...

Air Force is obviously very one dimensional. I don’t see them running the table. They’re going to lose 1 or 2 games along the way.

Re: Tulane vs ULL Cure Bowl

Don'r get me wrong, it's better than staying home and a positive step for the program but what a crap matchup. At least match us up with someone we've never played before (and not the last bowl opponent we had). I would have been more interested in watching us play LA Tech.

Re: QB Play

I don't understand how after 3 years we still don't have a good option quarterback. Aren't they the easiest to find? I know we didn't land Lindsey Scott but there has to be others out there. This offense looks nothing like GA Southern during Fritz's tenure there. The service academies find them.

Re: Wave loses opener 7-3

Actually, the outcome was better than I expected. With the talent on hand and their skill level, I never expected the offense to run like a well-oiled machine, especially the first game. The defense played exceptionallly and the team seemed much more organized. That's what I needed to see. I'm certa...
