Re: Line Opens Tulane 3.5 pts. > UAB

No, the oddsmakers don't watch. Their job is to put the line where as many bet on the favorite as is bet on the underdog. Because UAB lost to Coastal Carolina, a lot of gamblers will shy away from them. I would think the Blazers put forth a much better effort this week at home against us. I hope ot...

Re: Wake Forest Score Prediction Thread

Tough opener. I wish we’d had Wake later in the schedule. I expect us to improve as the season progresses. I just think Wake is still ahead of us in talent and depth. IMO Our defense is a question mark. We lost a lot of good players that will be hard to replace on that side of the ball. Hope I’m wr...

Too bad he did not stick and get his degree too, though. Why? So he can risk getting injured and not make that 1st round money? Get drafted in the 1st round and the salary and signing bonus after taxes will put him easily 20+ years ahead than an average Joe with an average salary coming out of coll...

I don’t think that implies academic issues—offers get lost as classes fill up, it’s part of the process.

Re: Tulane escapes ECU 71-69

This is always the part of the basketball season where weird things happen. The teams that stay consistent are the teams that will be good in March. This is truly the dog days of the conference season. Midweek road games are tough, and it’s hard to stay consistent week in and week out. Guys are gett...

Interesting stat posted on AAC board: Tulane- current RPI 89- with a win goes down to 98, with a loss goes down to 127 Wow. Interesting stat for sure. That implies all else being equal in other games though. Other teams around us could lose too. Just win and forget RPI for a second. We have three v...

Re: Memphis Game Thread

We are 3 pt dogs, which feels about right considering a midweek road game against a team that is around 140 in RPI. It should be close. An early lead would be nice. Not to look ahead too much, but this would be a really big road win to get, seeing as we get UConn at home this weekend. A 4-1 start (w...

Re: Tulane whips Temple 85-75

Some expressed disappointment at letting Temple get close a few times and I agree that it added unwanted anxiety. However, when they overcome it and win by hitting free throws, getting key blocks and breaking presses with dunks, it builds for the next time. This is weird to me. I mean, of course te...

Re: La Tech destroys SMU 51-10

To be honest, whether we win these bowl games or not, nobody is really paying that much attention. Quick, without looking it up — how did the MAC do in bowls last season? The MWC? Who won the Cure Bowl last year? Which conference had the best bowl record? To the vast majority of the casual football ...

Re: FSU Game Thread

Spread is 13 points. I know some around here thought it would be much more but Vegas is treating this as a neutral site game although I expect FSU fans will outnumber Tulane's by 50 fold. Shoot well and limit the turnovers and perhaps Tulane's "nearer-the-floor" front court can hang with FSU's "ove...

Re: Coaching Changes

Morris brought in his P5 and JUCO mercenaries for a short term pop, which he barely got with the hideous goal line call. He will definitely cash in with the first offer he gets. I agree, him going to Arkansas says a lot more about where Arkansas stands than where Morris stands--similar to the embar...

Re: UNC Game Thread

You have to be disappointed in the team's performance. Last year in November, Tulane had a much weaker team (no Cornish or Sehic), UNC had even a better team (eventual national champs), and yet we held them to 20 points in the Dome (95-75). Before you rebut that we had a home-field advantage, we di...

Re: UNC Game Thread

UNC won this game. Tulane didn't lose it. A better larger faster more skilled team beat decisively a worse smaller slower less skilled team. Disappointing? Sure. Look we root for Tulane and the very improbable upset. It didn't happen. Vegas had UNC as a 20 point favorite. It won by 24. It's the def...

Re: UNC Game Thread

We were never going to win this game. I don’t mind scheduling it, because you need to give yourself a measuring stick every now and then. But we don’t have the talent to win a game like this in Chapel Hill or even be competitive in it. The bigger concern for me is that once teams started playing zon...

Re: UCF/Memphis

The winner of this will go to NYD bowl regardless.

Hoping UCF can pull this out because I think they are our best shot at winning that game. Although both teams are really good. People can mock these defenses but a lot of these points are coming from offenses just making plays.

We played 8 games in the league this year and 6 were within one score either way (the other two were a blowout of Tulsa and a blowout of Memphis). Re: Tulane embarrassed at Georgia State 70-59

I guess that 15 point loss to Prairie View is no worse than 17 point loss by CSU to FSU. Yeah. Right. We lost to them by 11 on a night we shot what, 24% from the field? And 1 of 15 (6%) from behind the arc? And turned it over what, 20+ times. Georgia State is a powerhouse, that's for sure. But the ...

You can’t measure him relative to other Tulane players just because we aren’t used to having four star players and demand that he be so much better than anyone else on the roster (especially as a safety!) You have to measure him against four-star safeties. He is pretty much what you get from a four-...

Darion Monroe didn't live up to his 4 star status, that's for sure. He started literally *every* game for us for four years except one where CJ suspended him for some team rules thing. He had over 330 tackles over those four years, that is an average of 82/year from the safety position (with some c...

Comparing Fritz and Frost is ridiculous. UCF has no admissions standards. Tulane has the same NCAA MINIMUM standards that everyone else in college football uses a...

Who could have predicted this might be a tough spot for us. But please, tell me again that they lost to Prairie View. I did take us moneyline in this game and am still hopeful. But Vegas was generally right in thinking this would be a test. Only because we let it. I was taking that into account whe...
