Re: Mike Leach says CFB should have a real playoff, not 4 teams

When someone can show me a case where the best team in the country was not included in the 4-team playoff, I will reconsider. When high schools start travelling across the country for playoffs and conducting week-long media sessions, they can be compared to the NCAA. For the NFL, it's a profession....

Re: COACH WF BUZZ

Fritz system won’t be successful at the P5 level. You don’t see winning P5s running option. The best talent that aspire to play in the NFL will opt for pro style systems that best prepares them for pro ball. So he can go to Kansas have a couple of 4-8 or 6-6 type seasons with the occasional upset a...

Re: Tulsa GameDay Thread

I also think we're going to beat one of those teams we're not supposed to. USF is the game I would circle. It’s at home, and I honestly don’t think Flowers is going to beat us with his arm. They’re a good but flawed team. They make a lot of mental mistakes. They haven’t played a defense as good as ...

Lost 49-25 in the Dome in 2007. Lost 56-7 in Tulsa in 2008.

Little of both I think. Mostly I think Tulsa didn’t show up ready to play. Looks like they’re quitting.

But that said, this is what this offense CAN look like all the time when we get the right personnel.

Tulsa’s Defense has a late Bob Toledo-era feel to it. Could be a big day for our offense.

Re: FBI Announces Federal Corruption charges against 4 NCAA coaches

Crazy but because of this there’s now talk of paying the players directly. So once again bad behavior could be rewarded. Don’t be shocked if NIKE is also involved. My guess is this will cause a round of that "time to leave the NCAA and pay players" talk to start again in the media...

Re: Winning Does

The only way I'd extend him is if he has a winning season (which mean better than 6-6, and not 7-6 with a minor bowl victory) AND the extension included a clause that he pay back money if he leaves before the end of the contract. But again, we're 2-2 and have yet to accomplish anything worthy of an...

Interesting to see if anyone who got bent out of shape at this yells "WAVE!" over brave at the end of the anthem.

Everyone is too offended/triggered by other people's speech these days. I wouldn't care one way or the other.

Re: Tulane 21 - Army 17

Fritz would have been second guessed for not kicking the FG if we missed on the 4th and 1 at the six, but it was the right decision. I agree. I liked it too -- if you're going to tell your offense you're not sure if they can pick up that half yard, well, you're not going to get those tough yards in...

Re: Tulane 21 - Army 17

That was not pretty but it never is against Army, especially when they're good. They are a very tough team to play when they get ahead on time of possession and wear you down. It's a war of attrition at that point. They're gonna get their 8 minute drives, you just need to limit the damage. Still, we...

Re: Oklahoma Game Thread

These are scheduled in advance. We are getting OU at home down the road in exchange for getting our teeth kicked in this year. You have to view it in that context. Maybe in 2021 we will also suck, but maybe we won't. You want to give your program those targets. I don't know why you'd do a three-gam...

Re: Oklahoma Game Thread

Houston went up to OU and beat them last year and they remained in the hunt for a possible playoff game until a late falloff. Playing Oklahoma was great. Playing Ohio St will be great. The first Qtr “showed” you what we are capable of doing. If we beat Ohio St next year perhaps you’d feel different...

Re: Army Game Thread

Robert, we're on the same page. I think the team is well ahead of where we were with CJ and Buffet Bob, even in the season that we went to the N.O. Bowl. That team should have won 10 games minimum with the ridiculous schedule they played and playing certain decent teams without key starters. At the...

Re: Oklahoma 56 - Tulane 14

Anyone interested in Oklahoma -26 at Baylor this weekend? Line started at -27.5 and all the money is being bet on OU, but the spread went down. If all the money is being bet on OU, the spread would not have gone down, Robert. As we know very well, the spread moves in order to try to get as much mon...

Re: Army Game Thread

Any word on Sean Wilson? Sean Wilson playing injured. or withheld from playing will have an enormous negative effect on the entire defense. If I were laying money on this game without Sean Wilson. I'd take Army. Even if Wilson isn't 100% Army is a lot more banged up than we are (missing left tackle...

Re: Oklahoma 56 - Tulane 14

Too bad most OU fans have no idea where Tulane is located. Tells us how little those "Okie yahoos" appreciate academic excellence. Or culture. Or class. I mean you don't need to be into academics to know where Tulane is or that it exists. I would think most people would know this, even if...

Re: Oklahoma GameDay Thread

I don't think Brantley is hurt. If not I guess they are trying to preserve him for the rest of the season with the way our line is getting mauled. However I don't think this is worth burning his redshirt over. Would have put in Cuillette. I agree. It's not worth it, unless you think the Banks injur...

Re: Oklahoma GameDay Thread

No reason to be disappointed. I think I'll stick by what I said earlier in the week, which was that we wouldn't really change anyone's perspective on this team's prognosis unless we came within 3 TDs. If you were glass half-full on 6 wins before, this probably won't move you. If you were glass half-...
