Re: Future OOC Games

We're going to have to beat the middling P5 programs & somewhere in the not too distant future we are going to have to pull off a top fifteen victory. We will always be treated as the Sh*tbird program until we start defeating good teams. If/when the football coaching staff leaves, let us all hope t...

D, you answered your own question a few posts ago. I bolded it. They have little to gain and a lot to lose. It would not make good business sense on their part to legitimize us as a rival.
As I said above. They are nutless.

Re: Future OOC Games

And not for nothing, but look at how well the Tulane v LSU baseball games draw even when we stink. LSU didn't sell out a single game last year. They still ranked 6th in the country in attendance. But I cannot imagine Tulane vs. LSU not doing at least as well as LSU vs. Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Missour...

Re: Future OOC Games

99% of my friend are LSU fans. They have absolutely zero interest in playing us in football and it has nothing to do with the possibility of losing to us. It’s getting extremely expensive and time consuming to go to LSU games in Baton Rouge and the only thing that moves the needle for them is SEC g...

Re: Future OOC Games

OSU has the elite players that could physically put a heavy toll on ours that could carry over. Wake and GT are just well coached teams that would not do the same. It'sthe type of schedule that we need. As much as we want to talk our conference up it still doesn't have teams that excite many fans. ...

Transfer

Freddie Canteen, a WR , is transferring in and will be eligible immediately. He went to Michigan and transferred to ND. He could have two years of eligibility. He's had injury issues. He's reportedly finally healthy. This could be a really good pick up.

Re: Tulane Baseball still amongst the Elites

This is just Curtis Akey doing his job of putting a positive spin on things. He’s good at it. We just lost wo pitchers to the pros. The coaches are scrambling to get some good arms in so they want a positive vibe out there.

Re: Rice Baseball job filled by Matt ...

What we do know is all of those assistant coaches won immediately when they got here. The other guy, well we are still waiting. Selfishly, I'm glad Riser didn't get the job. Hopefully he will be a Greenie once again. Yes they did.Proving that the hire doesn't have to be a proven HC. As to Riser if ...

Re: Rice Baseball job filled by Matt ...

No big deal but it was 16 years. The point is neither was a proven HC at this level. Also the best coach we ever had was a football coach who was a long time assistant with no HC experience, Tommy Bowden. So while everyone would love to get a proven winner that's not the only way to get a good HC. S...

Right. All at lower levels. He had no D-1 HC experience. So he was not a proven winner at this level .Jewett moved up to D-1 the year after being names the National JC Coach of the Year.

Re: Rice Baseball job filled by Matt ...

RJ was an assistant at GT. That one worked out. This one hasn't so far. We'll have the final answer this year on him. In basketball an assistant named Perry Clark worked out pretty good for us.

Re: Graff mentioned in 5 possible candidates for Saints PBP job

If Graff takes the Saints gig, then lure Jim Henderson out of retirement to do Tulane football only. Since Jim likes to have former football players as color commentators, get Matt Forte to do that. Then you would have two guys with NFL experience (broadcasting and playing) doing college football. ...

Sorry to hear. Prof Curl taught the only journalism course, sportswriting, offered at Tulane when I was there. I took it with Hot Rod and the other hoops players. For our "final," we watched a TU game at the gym, and afterward Hot Rod, the team and I sat in the stands and wrote our gamers. Good tim...
