Re: Chris Scelfo

No different than bashing Conroy or Toledo or CJ. None of them hired themselves. i guess you could argue that coaches like Conroy and Toledo were more experienced and should have known better than to hire weak staffs. But again, all made their own decisions. The difference is Scelfo won a whole lot...

Re: Tulane gets measure of revenge over SMU 73-70

Really? Ona Embo, Sehic, Cornish? They're non-factors? These are Dunleavy players. +1. Any quality player EC brought in transferred b/c they knew he couldn't coach . Players would wait until the end of the season in hopes their cellphones would blow up. Osetkowski's did; thankfully, Frazier's did n...

Re: Tulane Women Basketball vs USF

At what point does Tulane turn up the heat on Coach Stockton's seat and say thanks for 25 years of good coaching, but mediocrity is no longer the goal for this program. The expectation should be making the NCAA tournament. Lisa has been a very good coach at Tulane but I have always believed we are ...

Re: Tulane Women Basketball vs USF

Is that Coach Stockton's fault? Maybe that's why they are reluctant to do that more often. Maybe USF has more opportunity for non-English speaking students. In AAC women's basketball, UConn is 1, USF is 2 and the competition is after that. This year will be a struggle for the Wave women due to yout...

Re: ASU OC Billy Napier New ULALA Head Coach

Conference alignment is mostly about institutional commonality, not who has the best football team. ULL is in the sunbelt because its peer institutions are in the sunbelt and in C-USA. The AAC schools, aside from overall playing very good spots, are also institutionally equal to the P5 (with maybe 1...

Re: Jeffery Johnson--4* DT early signee

Just saw another comment about ppl finding reasons to down Tulane recruits. The facts are this is the best composite class in probably 30 years. Scelfo had a really good class but it was slightly smaller and not as well rounded position wise. Fans have questioned some of the recruits over the last ...

Re: Fritz on verge of extension

I get ya, but he hasn’t had a winning season yet. No one is calling to take him away. He’s under contract for like 3-4 more years already. What is gained by extending now? It enhances the chances of keeping him if/when teams do come after him. And imo, those that will come after him are of the leve...

Re: ASU OC Billy Napier New ULALA Head Coach

Still, if he has $2 million for assistants, he should be able to hand pick his staff. That's a good job by the AD at U-La-La. I wonder what the budget is for Tulane football coaching? I like the idea of extending Coach Fritz, so long as we make it difficult for him to leave. The assistants need to ...

Re: That's a Wrap

Yet this gap is a lot larger than usual. This isn't one or two players it's 8. We'll have to stay very healthy on that side of the ball next year as depth will be very hard to find. We'll be going back to being a young team on that side of the ball. Then as discussed above hopefully the staff does ...

Re: Coaching Changes

It's shameful that SMU replaced Morris with Dykes. SMU and UCF each had an opportunity for huge hires and they both blew it. That's not to say that their coaches won't work out, but it is to say that there were better options available at the time. I won't say it is shameful...but it is damn surpri...

Re: Coaching Changes

That’s true, but one could say the same thing about Chad Morris. It’s true that SMU is bowl eligible this year, but that’s not a big deal for that program. This is their 5th bowl team in over 30 years. SMU hasn't fielded a ranked team (end of season), without cheating, in nearly 50 years. Morris' C...

We don't want anyone from his staff if he leaves. This is the WF show. He calls all the shots at every level. Good for him but not for the advancement of his staff. Whenever he leaves it has to be a wide open search. It would be a huge mistake to do otherwise. Well you are probably right. But I sti...

Re: Coaching Changes

If Willie Fritz goes to interview with SMU, (highly doubtful) I would tell him don't bother coming back. yes, that would be disappointing. I don't see it on a number of levels, including the reality that SMU has the same basic problem we do: lack of butts in seats. I think Tulane should bump Fritz ...

Re: Football Recruiting 2018

Its become pretty obvious in the past two recruiting seasons just how much Fritz (and Tulane) value grades. Not sure if its Tulane forcing it on Fritz, or Fritz knowing it takes those kinds of kids to handle the school part of Tulane, but there have been more players we've seen with offers from Ivy...
