Re: UNO Game 2 Thread
Did we really bunt with 1st and 3rd, 1 out in the 8th? Dannen needs to do his job. Yep and it resulted into a double play. The runner at 3rd had no business getting doubled up the ball was right in front of him. Earlier we got picked off from 2nd with two outs. Even earlier we got thrown out at hom...

We made a really bad hire. It's obvious. It was obvious a year ago.
The question is what is Dannen going to do about it in 2 months.

I still like his Fritz and Dunleavy hires.
But his big issue now is addressing women's basketball and, soon, women's golf. He can't allow these sports to deteriorate further.

Re: Colin Slater transferring
Too bad. I remember reading how excited he was to go to Tulane and return to his hometown from California. He was the only Conroy signee to stay with his commitment after Conroy was fired. We definitely need a higher level performer at point guard to compete in the AAC. The others were let go by Du...

Re: For what it's worth
ON paper (ESPN recruiting ratings) the class coming in is similar to the last few classes. Maybe it's better - I hope it is. But where's the recruiting been for the last few years? And then there's the issue of steady decline - turning a once NCAA program into a NIT program. And we've basically been...

Re: Melvin Frazier now projected 1st round pick
Has he really shown that he's in the top 1% of players in the NCAA game? I don't think he's in the top 1% of the AAC. Not to nitpick, but okay, I will. If he is in the top 1% of the AAC, he's in the top .01% of the NCAA. Put another way, if he's better than 99% of the AAC, he's better than 99.9% of...

And on the same lines, Stockton might have been a good choice too. It's really hard to keep the energy as coach for 20 years. I think there are some openings - good time to for her to move into the AD's office.

Re: Andy Cannizaro
The details are getting more and more sordid.
Reading all of this stuff about Mississippi State and its baseball coach turned AD reminds me of the mistake I believe Tulane made regarding Jones: he should have been named AD somewhere in the 2007-2010 time period.

Yes, he wasn't going to get paid anything if he was fired, so they gave him a more "honorable" way out and he resigned. Yes, it is generally good policy to NOT go with coach that Tulane insiders are pushing - they are worse than Dickson at picking coaches. On this rare occasion I agreed with the in...

Re: Women's Golf # 9 in the Country
These days most programs, including Tulane, have a full time assistant. You can't "coach up" 20 strokes behind, but that assistant, it seems to me, is key to evaluation and recruiting, which has obviously fallen off woefully. I'm always suspicious of "Tulane malaise" that seems to occur, too often, ...

Re: Women's Golf # 9 in the Country
I guess as TPS said, bad recruiting; and/or bad evaluation and development.
The coach has had a hard time keeping a 2nd assistant as well.

And we lose to Memphis by 13 today. That would be 8-18, 3-10 Memphis.
With this and women's golf, we'll find out a lot about TD. He hasn't had to make any real decisions....yet.

2nd to last place - 11 strokes behind 3rd to last place. 4 players shot in the 80s. Terrible.
This is a tough sport to get back once you let it go to the crapper. The good tourneys want good teams.

Re: Women's Golf # 9 in the Country
I believe our lowest scorer played individual only - not team.
Our last tournaments in the fall were last, 4th to last and 2nd to last.
Can't blame this on Bower's departure...she's the one who brought in this coach.

Re: Tulane Women Basketball
They played hard - that's wonderful, but they usually play hard. The coaching's usually good too. That's not a problem. The problem is comfort-zone recruiting. It's given them a NIT program for a decade, which both Stockton and the administration seem to have been satisfied with (we can tolerate NIT...

Re: Tulane Women Basketball
I don't think it was sexual orientation that made any difference. Looking at Coach Stockton's players, past and present, confirms what I've heard for years: she is very by-the-book and keen on image. No visible tatoos. No piercings. She's somewhat Belichek-like in her philosophy of what is acceptab...
