Re: Andy Cannizaro

Yes, he wasn't going to get paid anything if he was fired, so they gave him a more "honorable" way out and he resigned. Yes, it is generally good policy to NOT go with coach that Tulane insiders are pushing - they are worse than Dickson at picking coaches. On this rare occasion I agreed w...

Re: Women's Golf # 9 in the Country

These days most programs, including Tulane, have a full time assistant. You can't "coach up" 20 strokes behind, but that assistant, it seems to me, is key to evaluation and recruiting, which has obviously fallen off woefully. I'm always suspicious of "Tulane malaise" that seems t...

Re: Women's Golf # 9 in the Country

I guess as TPS said, bad recruiting; and/or bad evaluation and development.
The coach has had a hard time keeping a 2nd assistant as well.

Re: Tulane Women Basketball

And we lose to Memphis by 13 today. That would be 8-18, 3-10 Memphis.
With this and women's golf, we'll find out a lot about TD. He hasn't had to make any real decisions....yet.

Re: Women's Golf # 9 in the Country

2nd to last place - 11 strokes behind 3rd to last place. 4 players shot in the 80s. Terrible.
This is a tough sport to get back once you let it go to the crapper. The good tourneys want good teams.

Re: Women's Golf # 9 in the Country

I believe our lowest scorer played individual only - not team.

Our last tournaments in the fall were last, 4th to last and 2nd to last.

Can't blame this on Bower's departure...she's the one who brought in this coach.

Re: Tulane Women Basketball

They played hard - that's wonderful, but they usually play hard. The coaching's usually good too. That's not a problem. The problem is comfort-zone recruiting. It's given them a NIT program for a decade, which both Stockton and the administration seem to have been satisfied with (we can tolerate NIT...

Re: Tulane Women Basketball

I don't think it was sexual orientation that made any difference. Looking at Coach Stockton's players, past and present, confirms what I've heard for years: she is very by-the-book and keen on image. No visible tatoos. No piercings. She's somewhat Belichek-like in her philosophy of what is acceptab...

Re: Tulane Women Basketball

It doesn't change the facts. We haven't reached any great heights. We were in a weak CUSA most of the time. As Box noted we've lost good players right after they got here. If we are going to say we can't win because the other team has more resources we might as well give it up. Time to get it fixed...

Re: Tulane Women Basketball

I don't buy this business that she created heightened expectations; that had she not gotten us to the NCAA, we'd be happy with NITs most years? Nah. Different time, different era...we didn't try in women's hoops prior to Candi Harvey. We put a lot of resources into this program. Yes it's U Conn's le...

Re: Tulane Women Basketball vs USF

Here’s a list of Lisa’s NCAA appearances: 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2010, 2015 2 in the last 14 years. That's unacceptable. And the team is a basketcase right now...and that's with the best players she's had here in a decade. She should not have some "coach as long ...

No different than bashing Conroy or Toledo or CJ. None of them hired themselves. i guess you could argue that coaches like Conroy and Toledo were more experienced and should have known better than to hire weak staffs. But again, all made their own decisions. The difference is Scelfo won a whole lot...

Really? Ona Embo, Sehic, Cornish? They're non-factors? These are Dunleavy players. +1. Any quality player EC brought in transferred b/c they knew he couldn't coach . Players would wait until the end of the season in hopes their cellphones would blow up. Osetkowski's did; thankfully, Frazier's did n...

Re: Tulane Women Basketball vs USF

At what point does Tulane turn up the heat on Coach Stockton's seat and say thanks for 25 years of good coaching, but mediocrity is no longer the goal for this program. The expectation should be making the NCAA tournament. Lisa has been a very good coach at Tulane but I have always believed we are ...

Re: Tulane Women Basketball vs USF

Is that Coach Stockton's fault? Maybe that's why they are reluctant to do that more often. Maybe USF has more opportunity for non-English speaking students. In AAC women's basketball, UConn is 1, USF is 2 and the competition is after that. This year will be a struggle for the Wave women due to yout...

Re: ASU OC Billy Napier New ULALA Head Coach

Conference alignment is mostly about institutional commonality, not who has the best football team. ULL is in the sunbelt because its peer institutions are in the sunbelt and in C-USA. The AAC schools, aside from overall playing very good spots, are also institutionally equal to the P5 (with maybe 1...

Just saw another comment about ppl finding reasons to down Tulane recruits. The facts are this is the best composite class in probably 30 years. Scelfo had a really good class but it was slightly smaller and not as well rounded position wise. Fans have questioned some of the recruits over the last ...
