Re: Graff leaving Tulane for Pels

Going to be tough to replace Graff. I wish him the best. From a selfish point of view its too bad that the Pels couldn't just simulcast Joel Meyers and David Wesley to the radio. They do a fantastic job. Then we'd still have Graff. Too bad Graff had to suffer through all the lean years, and now that...

Re: 2020 football recruiting

They played together with Stephon Huderson at Petal High. I remember when I was following his season, I noticed that the QB was scoring and rushing almost as much as Huderson was.

Re: More Baseball Schollies?

TOPS is an interesting thing. Its called a scholarship, but in a lot of ways its need-based. How many kids at LSU or Southeastern could afford to go to college if they didn't have TOPS? So doesn't that imply a need? So technically TOPS type programs should be considered need based, not academic bas...

Re: More Baseball Schollies?

No doubt it couldn’t be just for athletes. In fact, Tulane provides tuition relief for many of its students, and I believe it’s completely at the discretion of Tulane as to who gets it, and how much they get. I just don’t know why some of it can’t be directed to athletes who have no scholarships or...

Sounds to me like your daughter has a case of the liberal college student victim mentality, if she lets words make her feel worthless. Didn't you teach her there are no safe spaces in the real world?

Re: Football Recruiting -- 2019

I know there's been a lot of concern here regarding the quality of this class, after last year. This update comes right after the announcement of Darius Hodges. Looks like we're getting closer to matching last years quality. And definitely far better than anything in recent years. YEAR NATL RK AVG ...

Re: More Baseball Schollies?

The connection is obvious, D. Due to Title IX restrictions, you must offer equal numbers of men's and women's scholarships. So in theory, if the NCAA were to increase the number of schollies in women's gymnastics, they could also increase men's baseball by the same amount. Now the thing is, schools ...

Re: 2019 AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

The original footprint for athletics was from Willow to Claiborne Ave. Athletics needs to take back that area including the Reily Center and the Intramural Football Field (Brown Field) in front. The school should relocate / (build a new facility) the Reily Center closer to the Quad. The University ...

Re: 2019 AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

I agree that the 10 miles from campus makes it less attractive than otherwise. I was only comparing facility to facility. And again, the original comments by Sunamiwave and then nawlinspete were only suggesting we make better use of the Turchin footprint, nothing more. We're an urban campus. We have...

Re: 2019 AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

sader24, don't be so stupid. You know damn well that wasn't the positive at all, much less the main one. The original mention was to use the Turchin footprint for an IPF and basketball arena, which long term would be more financially beneficial to the school than having baseball play on campus. At w...

Re: 2019 AAC Baseball Tourney Thread

Am I reading this correctly. ....Tear down a top 25 facility? And people wonder why we are where we are in all sports. You don't think if we replace Turchin with Zephyr Field we'd still have a top 25 facility? Think about it for a minute. You're talking a AAA quality minor league facility that seat...

247 sports already has him listed in the class. So far 4 commits, all three stars. Anderson's rating of .8839 is higher than current FR DL Jeffrey Johnson, who was rated .8750. Makes him the second highest rated commit ever, behind only Darion Monroe (.8893). This is at least as far back as 2002, ma...

We have squandered a golden opportunity to sneak into the regionals. At the end of 4, in the early game, Wichita State leads ECU 12-1. ECU about to get run ruled out of the tourney.

Re: 2020 football recruiting

This is the place we need to get back to. Where quality players have always wanted to play here, and when the opportunity comes, they take it and turn away all other suitors. And those are the types of players that will talk Tulane up to other athletes they know. It becomes a self sustaining situati...

Memphis was ahead 7-4 vs UCF after 4 1/2 innings, then gave up single runs in 5th, 6th, 8th, and 10th. Memphis gone. UCF lives another day. A win for us today would be huge. Puts us into the Saturday game. UCF or Cincy would have to win their elimination game, then beat us twice on Sat. Then, we pul...

ECU up 9-1 over Houston, bottom of the sixth. Looks like Houston is done. I do question ECU choosing to not pitch Jake Agnos yesterday and hold him for Game 2. Now he won't be able to pitch again, whereas Roper may be able to give us a few innings if we make it to Sunday.
